Caris LeVert
Rumor has it that the Brooklyn Nets are in search to complete a Big Three. They already have Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant signed, all they need is one more big piece, which they certainly have the chips to cash in.
I’m not too surprised honestly. It became clear to me that Kyrie Irving had already been influencing the team when out of nowhere they relieved Kenny Atkinson of his head coaching duties.
Apparently he hadn’t been playing DeAndre Jordan enough minutes to fit some players’ (cough cough, Kyrie Irving) liking.
Irving made public comments to the media that the team constructed as is, still needed one more piece to compete for a championship.
It’s funny because the Nets have several players on hand with high potential, such as Spencer Dinwiddie, who played at an All-Star level while filling in for the oft-injured Kyrie Irving.
Or Jarrett Allen, who brings a defensive presence just as retro as his ’80s style afro.
There’s also Caris LeVert, who not too long ago dropped 50 points in a game. LeVert was a bit of a risk the Nets general manager Sean Marks took on, as he was banged up a bit coming into this season.
They decided to extend him three more years after this season, betting on his potential.
He had a stress fracture in his foot his sophomore year of college, which hurt his draft stock and forced him to stay in school all four years. It was that same foot he injured later in his NBA career, which really made Marks’ decision more bold.
Just last year in the NBA playoffs, LeVert played really well against the Boston Celtics. He scored 23 points in 23 minutes in the only game the Nets won that series, and managed to come away averaging 21 points per game in the playoffs.
LeVert is not a sure-fire star like the rest of these guys on this list, but it would be interesting to see if he could quickly develop into one at age 26 or 27.
As for the Nets, they would get hometown hero Donovan Mitchell to suit up alongside KD and Uncle Drew to make a terrifying offensive attack.
