Utah Jazz: 5 stars to pair with Gobert if he can’t reconcile with Mitchell
By Caleb Manser
Bradley Beal
One of the most underrated players in the game right now is Bradley Beal. Don’t be fooled by his team’s crappy record, this dude can straight up hoop.
With his teammate John Wall struggling with injuries the past couple of years, Beal has blossomed under the extra responsibility to carry the Wizards’ offense. This season he averages 30.5 points per game and 6.1 assists.
His usage percentage climbed north of 30 percent this season, good enough for fifth most in the league. Despite having to do so much offensively for his team, his efficiency and turnover rates haven’t crept up with that usage rate.
One thing I love about this kid is his fierce loyalty to the Wizards franchise. He’s expressed his desire to retire there, and never leave them to chase a title with other teams. It would definitely be hard to pry him away from D.C, but I love his fit here in Utah.
Playing alongside Rudy Gobert and Royce O’Neale, Beal could learn how to play defense properly. That would be huge for his skill set as currently this season the Wizards have mostly been focusing on offense and hoping it’s enough to win games.
Already a two time All-Star who was snubbed this season, I’m sure the Jazz and their playoff legitimacy could help him out in that regard.
Washington may want to move on to younger players for their rebuild since Beal is already 26. If they had Donovan Mitchell, who is 23, he would better fit their timeline of building a championship contender.
Meanwhile, Utah would be able to make their final push before Gobert exits his prime, with a more capable scorer than they currently have in Mitchell. Who says no to this deal?
