Nigel Williams-Goss

Nigel Williams-Goss was Utah’s 55th overall pick back in 2017. The Jazz decided to stash him and retain his rights while he played overseas for the first couple of years of his professional basketball career, but they brought him stateside last summer for some point guard depth.

He signed a three-year deal with the Utah Jazz, but the second and third year of the contract are non-guaranteed. Williams-Goss didn’t get the opportunity to show much in Utah, and while he did have some good moments with the Salt Lake City Stars, he could be a guy who hits the waiver wire over the summer.

The 25 year old guard from Gonzaga averaged just 0.4 points and 0.6 assists in 3.1 minutes with the Jazz. He never got an opportunity in the rotation and only played late fourth quarter minutes in games that were already decided.

Prior to the NBA suspending the 2019-20 season, Williams-Goss was dealing with a shin injury. He should be healthy and ready to go if the season picks back up, but if it doesn’t, I’d say we may have seen the last of him in Utah.

He’s a steady, big lead guard that intrigues you with his physical abilities and IQ. Even if he doesn’t hook on with another NBA team (if he’s waived/traded), he’ll have a long professional career with multiple options overseas.

It sucks to see any Utah Jazz player go, but these were five that could realistically be playing elsewhere next season. We’ll see how it all unfolds, but Utah will be a team to watch closely during the off-season.
