Boris Diaw

Ah, Boris Diaw — the most interesting man in the world. Alright — maybe not the world, but the 37 year old was once the most interesting man in the NBA.

The former Utah Jazz big man once slept on the edge of the Grand Canyon, but that’s not the best part — he made sure to bring a portable espresso machine with him so he can enjoy a nice cup of coffee when he wakes up.

The often flip flop wearing, coffee obsessed Diaw played 14 seasons in the NBA, winning a championship with the San Antonio Spurs along the way. His last NBA season was with the Jazz in 2017, where he played a vital role for a young team looking to get back into the playoff picture for the first time in four years.

More. Is the Gobert/Mitchell relationship repairable?. light

Diaw may have only played in 73 games with the Utah Jazz, but he quickly became a fan favorite, thanks in large part to his infectious personality. From time to time, you may see Diaw in the crowd at a Jazz game, keeping tabs on his old team.

He may not look like it with his larger frame and graying hair, but Diaw is a baller. He’ll back you down in the post and throw a behind-the-back pass right on target and make you look silly. Diaw did just that on a nightly basis.

Diaw was fun to watch on the court, but he was also a joy off the court, which is why he’d be perfect for something like this BIG3 Tournament. Man, I’d pay to see it! I’m sure Diaw has more important matters to attend to, though.

You know — like climbing mountains or getting photobombed by seals. Never change, Boris. Never change. Jazz Nation loves you!
