Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson’s three-point shot looks as good as ever right now. It will take a significantly hot hand, but he could total 200 three-pointers this season.
Shooting was never Jordan Clarkson‘s strong suit. Throughout his NBA career, he’s been very streaky from long range. He’s mostly shot in the mid-to-low thirties from three, but his percentage this year has risen to about 38 percent, and 39 percent with the Utah Jazz.
He’s taking a lot of them, and making a lot of them. Clarkson has especially been on fire as of late, knocking in 25 of his last 48 three-point attempts.
That’s over 50-percent. The key number is the 48 attempts over his last seven games. Like I said, he’s taking a lot of threes and is making a lot of threes.
What would it take for Clarkson to compile 200 three-pointers on the season? Well, he’s on pace to make 174 of them. He’ll have to make a little more than three three-pointers per game in order to reach 200.
Easier said than done, but during that seven-game stretch I mentioned earlier, Clarkson has made 3.6 of them per game.
Reaching 200 threes would be awesome for Clarkson. There were only 12 guys in the NBA last season to hit that mark: James Harden, Stephen Curry, Paul George, Buddy Hield, Kemba Walker, Klay Thompson, J.J. Redick, Damian Lillard, D’Angelo Russell, Terrence Ross, Eric Gordon and Bradley Beal. Those are all elite three-point shooters.
Clarkson’s shot has been a pleasant surprise since joining the Jazz. For more perspective, Clarkson has made more three-pointers so far this season than Khris Middleton, an All-Star for the Milwaukee Bucks that could finish the year shooting 50-40-90.
Like I said, it’ll be tough for Clarkson to reach 200 threes but I sure do hope he can get there. Hopefully he doesn’t cool down during the All-Star break. Also of note, Bojan Bogdanovic will definitely surpass 200 threes on the season. Donovan Mitchell, like Clarkson, has a chance.
