Slam Dunk Contest 2012 – Jeremy Evans

Jeremy Evans wasn’t even supposed to be there. Thanks to an Iman Shumpert injury, Evans slid into the 2012 Slam Dunk Contest, competing against the Rockets’ Chase Budinger, the Timberwolves’ Derrick Williams, and the Pacers’ Paul George.

Evans’ best dunk featured a sitting Gordon Hayward, who flipped two basketballs into the air to a flying Evans, dunking them both.

Slam Dunk Contest 2018 – Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell’s magical rookie year continued. He was selected to be a part of the 2018 Slam Dunk Contest in Los Angeles, after an injured Aaron Gordon withdrew from the event. Mitchell had initially accepted an invitation to participate in the Skills Challenge, but ended up choosing to focus solely on the Dunk Contest–he made the right decision.

He had four total dunks. First, he brought out two basketball fixtures, throwing the ball off of one backboard and jamming it through the other basket.

Second, he brought out his sister, Kevin Hart (something Jeremy Evans also did in 2012), and Kevin’s son and dunked over the bunch, while wearing a Darrell Griffith throwback jersey.

Third, in the championship round, Mitchell tossed the ball off the backboard and threw down a nasty tomahawk slam.

Lastly, to finish off the night, Mitchell took off his Utah Jazz top to reveal a 90’s Vince Carter full-red-raptor Toronto jersey, and mimicked Carter’s contest-winning jam from the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest. It was truly an entertaining event put on by Donovan.
