Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson will narrate a special segment on the Philippines’ Taguig Tenement tomorrow on SportsCenter.

As humans, I think the majority of us are proud of where we came from. That is especially true for Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson, who was born in Tampa, Florida but has deep roots with the Philippines.

The 27 year old has duel citizenship with the United States and the Philippines and has suited up for his national team in the past. He visited his homeland in 2015 and has gone back three of the past four NBA seasons.

As he continues to get more and more in touch with his homeland, Clarkson is going to take the opportunity to do something special. Tomorrow on SportsCenter, Clarkson will narrate “Saving the Tenement.”

This is the story of a seven-story concrete building that is used as a housing project. It is located in one of the poorest areas of Manila and is highlighted by its iconic basketball court and beautiful murals.

You may have seen multiple images floating around on social media recently of a Kobe and Gianna Bryant mural. One of those images was likely from the Taguig Tenement. It was a truly wonderful way to honor the NBA legend and his daughter, who tragically died in a helicopter accident on January 26th.

The government is trying to evacuate the Taguig Tenement, seeing it as unfit for living. The residents, however, refuse to leave, and the main reason why is because of their basketball court.

You can check out a downloadable preview clip on the feature here.

This is an awesome story, and really shows how the people of the Taguig Tenement and of the country of the Philippines care about the game of basketball. Be sure to tune in tomorrow morning and listen to the Utah Jazz guard talk about his homeland.

Other NBA stars such as LeBron James and Paul George have also visited the historic court in the past, engaging with the fans and walking away impressed and inspired with the passion that they possess.

Since joining the Utah Jazz, Jordan Clarkson has been loved by many thanks to his instant offense. He’s given the Jazz a massive scoring punch off the bench, and they desperately needed that. Watching him play has certainly been refreshing at times.

It also seems like the players and coaches just get along with him. He’s a high character guy both on and off the floor. His tenure has been great thus far and the trade to get him here has proven to be successful.

As a member of the Jazz, Clarkson is averaging 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 25.3 minutes. He’s come off the bench in every game and is shooting 46 percent from the floor and 37 percent from deep.
