Alex Len

Former Co-Expert of The J-Notes, Jared Woodcox, has mentioned Atlanta center Alex Len as a trade possibility in the past. The Hawks appear set on upgrading their center position via elsewhere, which could make Len available on the market.

Len, who is currently nursing a hip injury, is in his second season with the Hawks. He’s coming off a strong season, but his minutes and shot attempts have taken a dip this season. Still, he gives you 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 18.6 minutes.

He’s also improved significantly as a shooter since joining the Hawks; he made six three-pointers in his first five seasons and made 74 alone last season. His shooting has also dipped this season, but he’s at least shown that he can stroke it.

Len is on an expiring contract, and it probably wouldn’t take a whole lot to get him. Give the Hawks, a rebuilding team, an asset (second round pick) and they’ll bite.

Len isn’t perfect, and probably wouldn’t be the first choice, but he’s an upgrade over Davis and Bradley, at least based on how all have played this season. Plus, he’s still improving, and we know that Utah’s coaching staff tends to get the best out of players.
