The Utah Jazz: Bojan Bogdanović’s mid-season player grade
By Lucas Miller
Bogey’s Final Grade
Let’s put a bow on this thing, shall we?
Bogdanović was brought out West to do one thing and one thing alone — shoot the three.
In his first season in Utah, as previously mentioned, he’s shooting more of them than he ever has in his career with 7.2 attempts per game. Again, because of it, he’s averaging 21.1 points per game — to date, his best scoring average, as well.
But that’s not the extent of what Bogey is doing in a Jazz uniform these days …
He’s also hitting career-high marks in each of the following statistical categories:
- Minutes Played (33.3)
- Made Field Goals (7.0)
- Made Three-Pointers (3.0)
- Free Throw Attempts (4.6)
- Free Throw Percentage (90.7 percent)
Aesthetically, at some point during the course of his NBA career, Bogdanović was destined to play in Salt Lake City — pasty white dude, bi-lingual, and balding with a bad haircut.
Remember, without any arm-twisting, the Jazz voluntarily drafted Grayson Allen.
Jokes aside though, his acquisition makes basketball sense too. As evidenced by the quantitative findings presented in this mid-season “report card,” Bogdanović has not only recognized his natural fit in the Jazz’s free-flowing offense, but he’s having a career year because of it.
* Final Grade: A-
Time will tell if Bogey’s grade will hold true for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs, but with just over half of the Jazz’s games completed and the team tied for the third seed with the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference playoff race, I wouldn’t bet against it.
