Emmanuel Mudiay revenge game

As the second quarter got ramped up last night, it was clear to everyone that Emmanuel Mudiay was going to have a huge game. He kept going to his favorite spots in the paint, either kicking it out on excellent timed passes or going to his mid range game.

Previous to last night’s bout, Mudiay had scored 15 points for his season high against the Brooklyn Nets on November 12th. Last night, Mudiay went for 20 points, and the biggest thing I noticed was the trust he had from his teammates and coaches to make decisions with the ball.

When he went for three point shots, they were good looks that I was fine with. Usually I cringe every time he steps into a three, but of late I’m pretty comfortable with Mudiay taking and making treys.

He did have four turnovers to go with his four assists, but overall I was really pleased with his performance. As a result, he got his first post-game interview, complimentary with an ice water bath from his teammates. Mudiay signed with the Utah Jazz to develop his game and learn how to play the right way, and so far both sides have benefited from the signing.

Is it any coincidence that Mudiay’s statement game came against his former New York Knicks squad? I’m not surprised.
