Bojan Bogdanovic and Mike Conley are the latest Utah Jazz players to appear in a Vivint Smart Home commercial. And it’s a bit of an odd one…
If you tuned into many Utah Jazz games last year, you were sure to see the new wave of hilarious Vivint Smart Home commercials that were largely met with rave reviews from the Utah faithful. One included Donovan Mitchell embracing his inner ‘cat guy’ and Ricky Rubio giving what became an iconic ‘meow’.
Another showed Royce O’Neale interrupting a Rubio music video shoot and the other featured Rudy Gobert‘s fascinating home security system comprised of ‘many Rudies’ that he presented to then teammate Jae Crowder.
I’ve included all three below for your viewing pleasure in case you somehow missed/forgot them:
However, unfortunately all three commercials were rather short-lived as Rubio and Crowder are no longer with the Jazz. Nevertheless, Vivint – a significant Utah Jazz sponsor – wasted no time in putting new ads together for the 2019-20 season.
The first aired during a commercial break of the Utah Jazz season opener and featured Rudy Gobert reliving his signature ‘cup-slapping’ moment from a season ago. See below:
The latest commercial, set to officially begin airing on Wednesday, features Jazz newcomers Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic in what might be the strangest ad yet. Conley definitely deserves a prize for solid acting, but Bojan delivers the most hard-hitting line with a memorable statement of “There’s a lot you don’t know about me.”
Then, from there…well…things get weird quick. There’s really no words to do justice to the conclusion of the ad, so I’ll go ahead and just let you watch for yourself:
Um…that was unexpected.
Personally, I liked the direction the ad was initially headed with both the acting of Conley and Bogdanovic, but I’m not sure how I feel about its conclusion.
Then again, I now expect the “There’s a lot you don’t know about me” line to be used consistently whenever Bojan does something awesome. And considering how incredible he’s looked through the first four games of the season, averaging 23.7 points on 53.3 percent shooting from the field and 45.5 percent from deep, I’d wager there are going to be a lot of opportunities.
When Bojan first came to Utah, many expected him to be merely a shooting threat who could space the floor with catch-and-shoot threes. However, between an aggression in attacking the hoop, a better-than-advertised defense, solid passing and a relentless determination to fight and win, Bogdanovic is showing both in the ad and on the floor, that there’s a lot that Jazz fans didn’t know about him.
He’s been a gem thus far for the Jazz and, weird commercial aside, should only continue to be an exceptional piece of their winning formula.
