Memphis Grizzlies: Ja Morant vs. Mike Conley

Regardless of which opposing players are on the floor, it will be a special occasion for Mike Conley every time he gets to play against his former Memphis Grizzlies team. Prior to being traded to the Jazz, he had played his entire 12-year career with Memphis and not only was he their best player, but he was phenomenal off the court and in the community as well.

In other words, expect some high emotions and interesting story lines whenever the Jazz head to Memphis or the Grizzlies come to SLC.

But the situations surrounding Conley’s individual point guard matchup against the Grizzlies will make things even more interesting. A large reason why the Grizzlies were ultimately willing to deal Conley this past summer was because they got exceptionally lucky in the draft lottery and earned the second overall pick with which they selected Murray State standout Ja Morant.

Morant was a prolific point guard in college who has star potential and figures to be the new face of the Grizzlies franchise, replacing the former one in Conley. Thus, when the two face off, it will quite literally be the past taking on the future. While Morant could one day be a superstar, it’s undeniable that Conley will have the edge initially.

But as the most exciting member of a rebuilding Memphis roster takes on the newest star on a loaded Jazz roster, you can expect some fireworks. Watching these two go head-to-head should be an absolute treat.
