The Utah Jazz have unveiled their plans for local game broadcasts in 2019-20. Also — Royce O’Neale hosts a community event in SLC.

Believe it or not, NBA training camps tip-off in less than one week (can I get a Hallelujah?!), and just a few, short days later, the Association’s 2019-20 calendar will begin in earnest with preseason hoops. In advance of their return to the hardwood, the Utah Jazz announced their local broadcast schedule and information on Monday.

76 regular season games and four preseason contests will be airing on AT&T SportsNet, which has been the team’s local broadcast partner in one form or other (Root Sports, FSN Utah, and so on) for 31 years now.

First up is the team’s October 5 showdown with former Jazzman/Stars forward Eric Griffin and the NBL’s Adelaide 36ers. Tip-off will be at 7 PM MT.

Not much will change where this year where game presentation is concerned. Craig Bolerjack and Matt Harpring will be on the call, with Kristen Kenney reporting from the sidelines. Thurl Bailey will provide analysis for select contests.

Meanwhile, Alema Harrington will host pre-game, halftime and post-game shows from a new location on the porch between sections 1 and 2 at Vivint Arena. Bailey, Kenney, Ron Boone and Mike Smith will join Harrington for select shows.

As ever, radio broadcasts will come at you from The Zone Sports Network on 97.5 FM and 1280 AM in Salt Lake City, with Boone joining play-by-play man David Locke on the call.

The complete broadcast schedule is now available HERE.

One thing noticeably absent from this release is anything pertaining to a viable streaming option for cord-cutters like myself. If you’ve got a cable or satellite package that includes AT&T Sports, you can stream games on the AT&T SportsNet app or attsportsnet.com, but blackout restrictions apply.

As a sports fan in the year 2019, stuff like this continues to be the bane of my existence. But, hey — Jazz basketball is back. Good times, right?

Jazz at Strikes For Kids

For the third straight year, the Jazz were part of the Strikes For Kids bowling event in Salt Lake City at the Fat Cats Entertainment Center on Tuesday. This year’s event was hosted by Royce O’Neale, and several other Jazzmen were in on the action, including Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell.

Strikes For Kids is a national charitable organization that partners with various organizations that reward the children for their hard work in the classroom, demonstrating great behavior and excelling in sports.

The Salt Lake City program rewarded 23 local student-athletes from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake ranging from ages 6-13 years old for their athletic and academic successes. Participants received backpacks in addition to the bowling, mini-golf and unlimited arcade games.

Also — O’Neale said he would be donating 100 movie tickets for Frozen 2 to the Boys and Girls Club.

Without question, the Jazz organization continues to be one of the premiere outfits in the NBA in terms of community relations and charitable efforts.
