Wednesday, October 30th – Utah Jazz vs. LA Clippers

Although the season opener is always an absolutely riveting affair considering that it tips off the new season, it’s actually the Jazz’s third home game of the year that’s going to be the most exciting moment of the first two weeks of 2019-20. That’s because that contest will offer the Jazz a first glance at the new-look LA Clippers who are the current favorites to win the NBA Championship heading into the new season.

With the stirring additions of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George as well as a talented group up and down the roster comprised of the likes of Patrick Beverley, Landry Shamet, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell, to name a few, the Clippers are no doubt a standout squad. They’ll be prolific on offense, but have the potential to likewise be absolutely stifling on defense led by their three-headed attack of Leonard, George and Beverley.

Scoring against that trio will be no easy task.

Fortunately, the Jazz have a back-breaking defense of their own to go along with an offense that was superbly revamped this summer. Many have presumed that these squads could be the top two in the Western Conference, so seeing this pair of potential titans of the West go at it in the season’s early-going will be a real treat.

Considering that the Utah Jazz season will be just a week old at this point, excitement will be at an absolute high. Factor in as well that this will be the toughest opponent the Jazz will have seen at home up to this point, that it could be a potential Western Conference Finals preview and – the cherry on top – that it will be nationally broadcast on ESPN, and this one has all the makings of an early- season classic.

The Jazz have struggled out of the gates in recent seasons, but the Clippers have a lot of adjustments to make as well themselves (not to mention, Paul George’s health is still somewhat of a question mark as he recovers from shoulder surgery), so it’ll be interesting to see who can adjust. Nevertheless, both teams have their eyes set firmly on a championship, so this early measuring stick game between the two will be must-watch television and an absolute treat.
