Training camp is still several weeks away, but the Utah Jazz are already rounding out their camp roster, signing Trevon Bluiett and Juwan Morgan to deals.

On Wednesday, the Utah Jazz broke up the typical monotony of mid-to-late summer by announcing multiple player signings.

Per a release from the team, guard-forward Trevon Bluiett and forward Juwan Morgan have both come to terms on deals. Although the Jazz’s opening night roster is essentially set, they’ll need additional bodies for training camp, which is where Bluiett and Morgan come in.

Bluiett earned a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans last season after rocking summer league. He eventually found his way to Utah’s G-League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars, having been transferred by his parent club in January.

One month later, his run in Salt Lake City came to an abrupt end when a lingering thumb injury required surgery. The 6-foot-6, 198-pound swingman had some good moments during his limited time with the Stars, though. Over seven games (all starts) he put up 13.9 points, 4.7 boards and 1.1 steals per game. He also connected on over 46 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Bluiett played his college ball at Xavier, netting All-American honors along the way. He was also a multi-time state champion in high school, where he was a teammate of Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson, Jr.

He’s shown great potential as a spot-up shooter and plays with energy when he’s on the court

Meanwhile, the Morgan signing is one that has long been rumored on the Jazz blogosphere. The 6-foot-8, 232-pound forward played for the Jazz during the 2019 summer league; he struggled in games at Salt Lake City, but put up seven points and six rebounds per contest over four games in Las Vegas.

His shooting stroke will have to improve significantly if he’s going to make it in the Association, but he can guard several positions on the court and has moves in the post.

Morgan and Bluiett are likely joining the Jazz as camp players on Exhibit 10 deals, meaning they’ll be incentivized to remain with the Stars when they’re ultimately waived by the Jazz.

Exhibit 10 players are eligible to receive a bonus of $5,000 to $50,000 if they sign on with the affiliate squad. Those bonuses won’t count against the Jazz’s salary cap.
