Utah Jazz: One eye-opening stat from each major free agent signee
52 Percent
Everyone knows that Bojan Bogdanovic is a heck of a shooter. After all, he converted on 42.5 percent of his triples last season on nearly five attempts per game. For his career he’s just shy of 40 percent from deep.
That shooting ability will force opposing defenders to stay absolutely glued to Bogey’s hip at all times. But considering that Quin Snyder’s offense is one of the best at creating wide open shots, you can rest assured that Bojan is going to get his own next season. There’s simply no stopping a guy with that kind of range, especially when he’s surrounded with such a vast variety of weapons as the Jazz are able to throw out each and every night.
But of all of Bojan’s impressive shooting numbers, the one that stands out to me the most is his 52 percent shooting average from corner threes last season. Yes, you read that right – 52 percent!
That’s an absolutely absurd number. And considering that Utah’s offense is largely predicated on corner three threats, Bogdanovic is going to be a powerful weapon. As pointed out in a recent Forbes article by Ben Dowsett, the Utah Jazz attempted the second-highest percentage of their total shots as corner three-point attempts last year, but were just 16th in the NBA in accuracy. Bogey will help clean that number up big time.
Last postseason, the Jazz were atrocious from the three-point line as guys like Rubio, Jae Crowder and others launched up brick after brick from the corner spot. But with a proven 52 percent corner three guy like Bogdanovic, teams won’t have any luck leaving that shot wide open any longer. Bogey’s deadly shooting stroke is bound to be an incredible asset this upcoming season.
