Utah Jazz: 15 realistic free agency options post-Conley trade
By Ryan Aston
Mike Scott
When people talk about Jazz DNA, things like grit and toughness are definitely a prominent part of the equation. Former second-round steal Mike Scott would provide those things in spades from the power forward position, with the added bonus of being able to knock down long-range jumpers.
Scott has really worked hard to expand his range since entering the league in 2014. At this point, he’s arguably one of the better floor-spacing frontcourt players in the game, hitting over 40 percent from three in each of his last two years.
At 6-foot-8 and 237, his size isn’t overwhelming, but a 6-foot-11 wingspan could enable him to play some situational small-ball five. Positional versatility and shooting prowess are a sweet combination in Jazzland.
Like a few guys on this list, he also has history with Quin Snyder. Perhaps not coincidentally, Snyder’s year in the ATL with Mike Budenholzer was the same year Scott took 2.5 3-pointers per game and made 31 percent of the attempts after only shooting one three his entire rookie season. His transition into Snyder’s system with the Jazz could be easier than most.
Scott will be an unrestricted free agent.
