Omri Casspi

Full disclosure — Omri Casspi has been one of my basketball man-crushes since 2010. If the Jazz could procure him on a minimum deal, I’d probably throw a Tobias Harris-level party.

Injuries have cut him down time and time again, and he’s had to fight to make teams and prove himself over and over again. Through it all, though, Casspi has continued to be one of basketball’s true Swiss Army Knives (perhaps Israeli Army Knife is more appropriate here. Is that a thing?)

How’s this for some awesome statistical cherry-picking — since Casspi’s rookie season, only 28 full-time NBA players have matched or exceeded his career points and rebounds per game, 3-point percentage and PER score.

We’re talking 10 years and thousands of players here, folks, and he’s part of a small list populated by guys like Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Damian Lillard and others of that ilk.

My fanboy-isms aside, Casspi is the ultimate role player; a guy who’s going to give you an honest defensive effort, a diverse offensive skill set, veteran leadership and positional versatility at a bargain-basement price.
