Luc Mbah a Moute

Another name that has seemingly come up a lot with fans as a potential Jazz guy recently, Luc Mbah a Moute would certainly further diversify the Jazz’s already sterling defensive profile. We’ve seen it firsthand during multiple recent playoff runs.

Simply put, Mbah a Moute is a garbage man who’s going to do all the little things that help good teams win. He’s going to play the three and the four and will occasionally be called upon to slow down the other side’s best offensive players and will actually be able to do it.

The Houston Rockets conceded just 101.7 points/100 possessions when he was on the floor two years ago. I still can’t comprehend their decision to let he and Trevor Ariza walk in favor of the ill-fated Carmelo Anthony experiment.

Offensively, he’s not exactly a modern-day Dale Ellis. Heck, he’s barely a late-stage LaPhonso Ellis. But he’s still a smart player who, at the least, will keep you honest by taking and make the occasional 3-pointer. He’ll never be a priority for opposing defenses, but you’re not going to able to ignore him Rubio style.

Mbah a Moute was injured for most of last season, which could be a concern. I’d still take a flier on him as a low-dollar depth piece and locker room presence.
