The hilarity of Utah Jazz offseason social media has already started as Rudy Gobert dropped an amazing zinger on Donovan Mitchell on Instagram.

For all save two fortunate teams, it’s now the offseason in the NBA. Which for the Utah Jazz also means it’s social media season where some hilarious posts and jabs at one another become all too commonplace.

We’ve seen this tight-knit roster have fun with one another time after time in the regular season, but it seems like they take the hilarity on social media to a whole new level once they’re out of the grind and in the offseason. Jazz center and Defensive Player of the Year finalist Rudy Gobert didn’t waste any time getting the jokes started with a hilarious one on Monday.

To understand the wisecrack, you’ll first need to check out the video below, in which a young Junior Jazz player pulls out an adorably epic spin move that has a hilarious impact on the poor little defender checking him:

As great as the spin and subsequent ankle-breaking fall are, the brief look-back stare down may be my favorite part. Then, of course, the air-balled jump shot afterwards is the perfect ending to the clip and an excellent microcosm of basketball being played at this wonderful age.

The move was so good that even Donovan Mitchell himself chimed in and showed the little man, who just so happened to be sporting Spida’s number 45 on his jersey, some love:

In typical Donovan fashion, the rising Jazz star showed his love and respect to his fans and community by saluting the young man’s epic show of ball-handling and athleticism.

But then, that was followed up by Rudy Gobert doing what he does so well. Typically he’s known for shutting down opponents in the paint and at the rim. This time, he went right at his teammate Donovan Mitchell with a cold, hard denial.

As pointed out by Twitter user @TheRealRosscoe below, Rudy Gobert left a hilarious comment on the same highlight video on Instagram. In case you can’t make it out in the image, he stated, “Best number 45 in Utah to be honest.”

You’ve got to love the fun-loving, heckling demeanor these guys have among one another, especially because when they do battle on the court, all such jokes and easy-going attitudes dissolve entirely. I don’t think Mitchell’s in for a run for his money as the best No. 45 in the state just yet, but give it a few years and this little guy may be on to something due to what we’re seeing already in his formative years!

Next. Utah Jazz did right by being upfront with Rubio. dark

And if he does just so happen to become an unforeseen star and match Donovan in skill level, you can bet that Rudy will be lining up to be among the first to give Mitchell a hard time for it. June’s only just started and Rudy has already set a high bar for ribbing between teammates on social media, so I can hardly wait to see what other comedy awaits us from the Jazz crew for the rest of the summer.
