#6 Joe Ingles had a horrible series
Throughout the matchup between the Jazz and Rockets, the reoccurring theme consistently seemed to be that the Jazz couldn’t hit enough shots to win games. That was partially due to the fact that they were lacking in shooters in the first place. But it was also largely a result of guys who typically make shots just not stepping up.
The best example of this was Joe Ingles who had an undeniably awful series.
Last year, Ingles was one of the heroes of the first round as he badgered Paul George and drained key shots on the opposite end of the floor. This time around, whenever the Jazz needed a big shot, it felt as if Joe was nowhere to be found as he was unable to come through in the clutch in the key moments when he was needed most.
For the series, he averaged just 6.4 points on 32.4 percent shooting from the field and a dismal 27.6 percent shooting from deep. Those marks were well below his regular season figures of 12.1 points, 44.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from deep.
In many circles, Ingles has been considered the Jazz’s third best player trailing only Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. But unfortunately, he certainly didn’t look the part in this series. Joe was as inconsistent and offline as he’s ever been in a Utah uniform. And unfortunately, that horrific shooting slump at the worst possible time can easily be considered one of the main contributors to Utah’s incredibly disappointing series loss.
