Tier 2
Jeremy Lamb
Though not as prolific as the Tier 1 guys, this next batch is still formidable and in Utah’s typical blue collar, organic way, they could make the team better as they continue to grow and improve rather than simply upping the talent level right off the bat. In this instance, Jeremy Lamb is an ideal fit. He has room to grow, but his ceiling is extremely promising and he could be a great addition in Utah.
Lamb is enjoying an exciting season in Charlotte where he’s putting up 15.1 points per game, the best of his career. His shooting is down somewhat this season, but he certainly has long-range ability and his length and athleticism are both extremely appealing. As a two-guard starting next to a potential point guard Mitchell, they could make a tantalizing pair. Or, depending on how else the Jazz bulk up, bringing Lamb off the bench as a sixth man extraordinaire could be deadly.
He’s gotten significantly better in each of his past four years, and at just 26 years old, I’m still high on his odds of being an impactful player in this league. Give him some time in Utah’s development and strong coaching system and he could certainly take off.
As an unrestricted free agent and with a lot of question marks surrounding Charlotte, it’s entirely reasonable that he could become quite available. If he does so, the Jazz had best keep their eyes open as he could be a great addition.
