Allen Crabbe

Fair or not, Allen Crabbe is known more for his most recent hefty contract than he is for his stellar play on the court. As such, it’s quite likely he’ll choose to opt in to his player option for 2019-20 as he’ll likely be hard-pressed to find that kind of money elsewhere. But on the odd chance that he decides making a change is more valuable, he’s definitely an interesting prospect for the Jazz to eye.

Though he isn’t shooting as well as his Portland days and his efficiency from the field is frighteningly down, he’s still converting on over 38 percent of his three-point attempts. The Jazz definitely could continue to add more shooting threats and Crabbe would certainly help fit that bill.

Overall, he’s a high-energy player that can make an impact on both ends of the floor and could be a valuable bench piece for the Jazz. Frankly, I don’t see him opting out of that player option unless the allure of a potentially larger role and perhaps a promised multi-year agreement makes him feel more comfortable than the final year left on his current deal. If such is the case, the Jazz could aim to take a risk on him.

He may not be the most exhilarating prospect but there’s still enough things I like about his game to have him be interesting. Plus besides, we’re down to Tier 3 here, so the pickings are certainly a little slimmer than one may like.
