Soon enough, the 2019 NBA Draft will be upon us. Therefore, it’s not too early to take a look at some potential point guard targets for the Utah Jazz.

It’s Quin Snyder’s job to focus on the present. The current Utah Jazz team. The next game. Rotations. It’s the job of Dennis Lindsey and Utah’s front office to focus on the present and  the future. The draft. Free agency. Building a championship contending team.

That being said, I think the point guard position is an area the Jazz need to improve on. Ricky Rubio will be a free agent during the summer, and while the team is, rightfully so, very high on Dante Exum, his injury history is concerning. Whether or not Exum is indeed the point guard of the future, I still think the Jazz should look at drafting one.

Luckily for the Jazz, and other teams in need of a point guard, the 2019 NBA Draft class could have some solid depth at that position. That said, it’s not like last year’s class, though, which featured Luka Doncic and Trae Young. I say ‘could’, because it’s obviously unclear if some of these guys will go back to school or go pro.

The Jazz will likely be picking later in the first round, so they don’t have a shot at getting a guy like Ja Morant of Murray State, who is considered a top-3 talent. Keep that in mind when reading these options that are listed. Let’s jump right on in with a Freshman point guard from Duke.
