Thon Maker

Through two-plus years in the Association, Milwaukee Bucks big man Thon Maker has yet to live up to the hype he generated as a YouTube sensation. Still, the former No. 10 overall pick remains an intriguing upside project.

At 33 percent for his career, he’s still got a little bit of work to do as a 3-point shooter, but Maker has shown some chops there, hitting three-plus triples on three occasions this season. He also has a great NBA body at 7-foot-1 and 220 pounds with a 7-foot-3 wingspan and a 9-foot-3 standing reach.

He moves pretty well for having such a big body, too.

Against the Jazz in January, he had what might have been his best game as a pro. In 18 minutes of play, he hit 6-of-8 shots, including two threes, to score 15 points while adding five boards and two steals in a Bucks win.

The (alleged) 21-year-old may never put up that kind of line on a nightly basis, but what he will do is give effort defensively and bother some people with his length. The Bucks concede just 97.8 points per 100 possessions when he’s on the floor this season and are six points worse when he’s off.

He can score from multiple spots on the court as well.

Word is that Maker wants to go somewhere where he can get minutes, and it seems the Bucks may consider obliging him. He’s still on a team-friendly, rookie-scale deal as well.
