Before performing in a show on Monday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena, comedian Adam Sandler stopped by to hang out with the Utah Jazz.

With the NBA trade deadline just over 48 hours away, there’s been a lot of talk that the Utah Jazz could be scoping the league for a new point guard such as Mike Conley, Jrue Holiday or some other player that could make for a prolific backcourt tandem alongside Donovan Mitchell. However, in a shocking turn of events, it would appear that perhaps the Jazz found an unforeseen candidate on Monday night – Adam Sandler.

The comedian/actor was in town for a show at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Monday evening, but he appears to have also put in his audition for the Utah Jazz. As you can see in the video below, Donovan Mitchell was obviously impressed and is all on board for a 10-day contract being extended to the renowned funny man–

One can’t help but imagine what it would be like to see Adam Sandler running the pick-and-roll with Rudy Gobert, or spotting up in the corner for a wide-open three off a Mitchell dish. Heck, the more I think about it, maybe the Jazz have found their secret weapon against the Golden State Warriors.

If they needed some passion, energy or physicality, who better than Adam Sandler whose various characters have threatened to strangle opponents with a microphone wire, stabbed a guy with an ice skate and beat the living crap out of a mini golf course clown – “You’re gonna die, clown!”

He’d obviously give Joe Ingles a run for his money with his trash talk game. We all saw how Happy Gilmore verbally abused Shooter McGavin and how Billy Madison put Eric Gordon in his place. No, it wasn’t Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets, it was the fictional character trying to take over Billy’s dad’s hotel business, but I think it’s still a good starting point, especially if the Jazz and Rockets were to meet in the playoffs.

Furthermore, with Sandler aboard as the Water Boy to ensure the team stayed hydrated, he’d have a role on this team regardless of playing time. And he’d fit right in with the post-game water bottle celebrations that we’ve come to love so much. His humor would fit in perfectly with the likes of Donovan, Rudy Gobert and Ricky Rubio maintaining exemplary team chemistry.

Last of all, we all saw him go to work in Grown Ups. Sandler can ball. And as evidenced by his play in The Longest Yard, he’s a multi-talented athlete as well. Perhaps it’s time the Jazz went out on a limb and added the crafty veteran to their ranks. Dennis Lindsey better be jumping on this opportunity right away.

Of course, I’m being facetious. But you had at least a little fun imagining it, right? In reality, Sandler paid a visit to Jazz players prior to his show and they got some awesome interaction and photo ops. I’ve got to admit, I’m pretty jealous. Adam was an idol of mine growing up and I’d love to have that time to chat and joke around with him in person.

By the looks of the photos/tweets below, the Jazz players appeared to have a pretty good time both with his visit and his show–

With the Jazz suffering two blowout losses in their last three games, hopefully Adam Sandler gave them a much-needed pep talk to get them back on track heading into the All-Star break. They could certainly use any extra motivation and support that they can get.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting the team, Adam! Hopefully next time you’re in town we’ll see you suiting up in a Utah Jazz uniform and hitting the hardwood!
