Josh Padmore’s pick – Mike Conley

J-Notes regular Josh Padmore thinks the Jazz should strike on the Mike Conley opportunity while they can.

My top trade option for the Utah Jazz is Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley. Conley is a dynamic point guard, and one of the best players to ever not make an All-Star team. Ricky Rubio would likely be involved in any Conley trade. Rubio’s playmaking would be missed, but Conley is an above average playmaker himself and is on another planet defensively. His All-Defensive Second Team in 2013 backs that up.

When healthy, Conley will put the Jazz on another level as far as point guard play goes. Financially, he’s getting paid a ton of money, but only for the following two seasons. His contract will be up for when the Jazz have to re-sign Rudy Gobert and sign Donovan Mitchell to an extension.

The opportunity to get Conley is right there for the Jazz, and unlike Nikola Mirotic, this may be their last shot at landing him. Will they still have significant interest in him when he becomes a free agent? Who knows.
