Utah Jazz trade deadline 2019: Five potential small forward targets
Taurean Prince
Fellow J-Noter Josh Padmore recently mentioned Taurean Prince as an under-the-radar trade prospect for the Utah Jazz, and I have to agree. While Prince wouldn’t elevate the Jazz to a brand new level, he certainly has some likable traits.
He’s a decent 3-point shooter, though his efficiency is down from a season ago, as is his scoring. He can slide to the four-spot if needed and at just 24 years old, still has ample potential. Think of him as a younger version of Jae Crowder, as the two share some similar skill sets. Prince can defend, score and fill the stat sheet when he has a mind to.
Sure, he might be redundant with Crowder and he’s far from a proven player, but Prince has shown enough flashes as a member of the Atlanta Hawks to at least be an intriguing target. Depending on who gets shuffled in other deals or what holes Utah may have to fill, bringing in the former Jazz draft pick that was instantly traded away in the George Hill deal might be a beneficial reunion.
In terms of availability, the Hawks are likely willing to listen to just about any offer as they continue their rebuild. They have some tantalizing young talent, but outside of Trae Young and John Collins, they’d probably be willing to deal just about anyone if it helped them free up more space or gain important assets for the future such as draft picks.
This may not be the most ideal match for either team, but it definitely merits consideration from Jazz brass.
