Josh Hart

In wake of the shocking Anthony Davis situation, it’s pretty safe to say that every player on the Los Angeles Lakers roster not named LeBron James is potentially on the trade block. The Lakers will likely stop at nothing to bring a second star into their fold, even if it means gutting their roster of ample young talent.

Though it looked originally like the New Orleans Pelicans might be unwilling to deal AD to the Lakers, now that the two are in talks, it’s entirely possible that an arrangement will be made between the two teams to simply deal for Davis straight up. Personally, I think New Orleans would be foolish to trade him before the summer when their options will grow significantly, but that’s another story.

If an agreement can’t be made straight up between the two teams, then it’s entirely possible that a third team (or more) may have to be involved to make a deal happen, or that LA will look to make additional moves centered around a Davis deal for added flexibility. If that becomes the case, then the Jazz would do well to see if they could potentially swing a smaller deal to nab Josh Hart.

Hart isn’t going to be a game-changer for the Jazz, but he has the potential to be a nice pickup. Hart’s shooting figures are down this season from a year ago, but he still has the high ceiling and effort that you love to see in a young player. I like his potential fit with the Jazz as a role player off the bench who can score the ball and provide energy and effort in a pinch.

Not only that, but he and Mitchell have a good relationship with one another which should only help increase the chemistry of the squad. The Jazz wouldn’t give up much for Hart and he wouldn’t totally alter the team’s trajectory, but in picking up the pieces of a potential blockbuster trade, the Jazz could get a sneaky addition in Hart that could be a nice player moving forward.
