The J-Notes are unfortunately passing along the news that Utah Jazz guard Raul Neto’s grandfather has passed away.

Late Tuesday night, Raul Neto took to Instagram to pay tribute to his grandfather, who passed away. It’s unclear how Neto’s grandfather passed, but I’d like to extend my thoughts and prayers to Raul and his family. This is a tough way to start the new year of 2019.

It’s also unclear if Raul will miss time to grieve or spend time with his family. That’s common for NBA players. Michael Beasley, a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, missed a lot of time while tending to his mother, who tragically lost her battle with cancer last week. Like Neto, Beasley shared the news on his Instagram account.

Raul proudly shares the same name as his late grandfather, as he mentions in his Instagram post.

Here’s the post translated, in case you didn’t understand:

"“Rest in peace Grandpa Raul. I will always honor your name. You taught me that everything is done with work. A Tailor who built all that you left for your family. We love you so much.”"

Again, all of us at the J-Notes are sending our best wishes to Neto and his family. The pesky third-string point guard and his Utah Jazz next play on Friday. They’ll be taking on some old friends: Rodney Hood and Alec Burks. The game will be in Cleveland, so we won’t be able to see the two former Jazzmen return to Utah just yet. That contest will tip-off at 5:30 PM MT.

Be sure to show Raul some love on his Twitter and Instagram account, Jazz Nation. I’m sure he’d be extremely appreciative of it and it would be a great opportunity to support one of our beloved Jazzmen.
