Positive mindset, professionalism
The Utah Jazz’s struggles this season have been well noted. While I think they are definitely a positive group in general, there’s always room for more positivity. Shelvin Mack lives by the words “think positive.” Whenever things aren’t going well, Shelvin is a good guy to have around to keep a team from folding.
Mack doesn’t complain, either. He just does his job. Coming off that half season run with the Jazz in which he was a starter, he probably should have backed up George Hill more than he did the next year. That didn’t happen, but Mack didn’t make it a problem. He stayed professional and when his number was called, he was ready to contribute.
Again, I don’t think the Jazz particularly need a pep talk or a motivational speaker, but there’s no such thing as too much positivity in a locker room.
You know what they say about role players, they have decade long careers. Mack is well on his way to a decade-long NBA career, and I’m really happy to see him doing well in his new home. I can’t speak for all of Jazz Nation, but I, for one, do miss Shelvin Mack being on the squad.
