After last week’s leak, the Utah Jazz have officially unveiled their green ‘Earned’ Edition jerseys and when they’ll be wearing them.

Although the team won’t break them out until their Christmas Day showdown with the Portland Trail Blazers, the Utah Jazz’s “Earned” Edition uniforms have been a hot topic in Jazzland of late.

Last week, we got a sneak peek at the new (old?) green duds courtesy of a stocking mistake at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Now, we have our first official look at the Jazz’s sixth uniform for the 2018-19 season after the team officially unveiled the jerseys on Wednesday.

Here are Jazz big men Derrick Favors and Jae Crowder strutting their stuff in the new kits, via Twitter. Hot take alert: they look amazing —

A few Jazz fans have hit me for fanning out on the new kits, calling them knock-offs of the Green Bay Packers and/or Seattle Supersonics. For my money, though, they may be the sharpest of the six.

Really, the green, gold and white color scheme is just the thing for the team’s ongoing celebration of its 40th season playing in Salt Lake City. When the Jazz moved here back in 1979, they adopted those colors for their road kits and continued to wear them for the next five years.

That run includes the season that saved the franchise, when Adrian Dantley, Rickey Green, Darrell Griffith and Mark Eaton led the Jazz to their first division title during the 1983-84 season.

The classic road greens returned briefly in 2009. Green later became a more regular part of the uniform rotation from 2011-17 with re-imagined jerseys.
