Don’t look now, but we’re already 20-plus games into the Utah Jazz’s 2018-19 season. How have SGs Donovan Mitchell and Grayson Allen performed thus far?

Utah Jazz fans got a big treat on Wednesday night. In his first game back from injury, Donovan Mitchell dropped 29 points to lead the Jazz to a 10-point road win over the Nets in Brooklyn.

It was a much-needed effort for a variety of reasons, but let’s not mince words here — one of those reasons is the fact that Mitchell hasn’t exactly been crisp on offensively over the first quarter of the season. Nor has the team’s other shooting guard, rookie Grayson Allen.

Alec Burks was probably exceeding some expectations, but he’s in Cleveland now.

In fact, the Jazz backcourt as a whole has yet to live up to its billing during the 2018-19 campaign. Earlier this week, I gave Jazz point guards their first-quarter grades and, let me tell you, they weren’t great.

Had the grades come after the Nets game, they’d probably be worse, too.

In any event, it’s the shooting guards’ turn. And, as with the rest of my positional report cards, I won’t be pulling any punches with the Jazz’s star player or their prized rookie.

Here’s where I have Mitchell and Allen at the quarter point…
