Klay Thompson

Remember what I said earlier about us Jazz fans being allowed to dream? Well, here I go again. Klay Thompson would be a dream fit with the Jazz due to his excellent shooting and phenomenal defensive prowess. His ability to play off the ball but still knock down shots at an unprecedented clip would be a dream, providing Mitchell with much-needed space and allowing Gobert to thrive in the paint.

And while Thompson has expressed strong interest in staying in The Bay and likely wouldn’t give the small-market Jazz too much consideration, the reality is that the Warriors may have some tough decisions to make this summer. The key player will be Kevin Durant who’s also an impending free agent, but if he does intend to stay with the Warriors and collect a big pay day, Thompson might have to take a cut to stay. That will be further complicated by whatever Golden State intends to do with Draymond Green down the road.

I know that the Warriors are going through some inner turmoil right now, but make no mistake about it, this team still is head and shoulders the best team in the league and the championship favorite. If they can continue to run it back, they most certainly will try to do just that.

But if pay requirements or attitudes get too much in the way, there could be some changes. And if such is the case, the Jazz should absolutely strike. Adding a player of Klay’s caliber would be an absolute game changer for a Utah team that remains still outside of true championship contention.
