11/14 Utah at Dallas

6:30 pm MT – AT&T SportsNet/League Pass

Opponent record: 4-8

Season series: Jazz lead 2-0

Man, this feels like deja vu all over again considering how much we’ve seen both Dallas and Memphis so far this year. Fortunately, the Jazz have enjoyed ample success against the Mavericks this season, and ideally will continue to do so on Wednesday.

Since falling to the Jazz, the Mavericks posted a nice bounce-back win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in which rookie Luka Doncic shined once again. I have a feeling that as the young Mavericks start to gel, they’ll become more and more dangerous as the year goes by. In that regard, the Jazz may end up grateful that they got to face them three times during the early part of the season.

Still, until Dennis Smith can get more under control and until DeAndre Jordan actually decides to put in a dedicated effort on both ends of the floor (he really didn’t do so in the most recent bout), this is a Dallas team that figures to be outmatched against the Jazz in all aspects. In the most recent contest, the Jazz made the mistake of getting complacent and allowing the Mavs back into the game, but beyond that it was a wipeout of a victory.

Although the Mavs continue to be an entertaining and improving team, I’m expecting a similar result on Wednesday. The Jazz can’t get lazy, especially on the road, but they really ought to be able to topple a Dallas team that simply isn’t on their same level in terms of talent.

My Prediction: Jazz Win

Final Score: Utah 118, Dallas 104
