Jose Calderon

As long as he’s not retired, Jose Calderon will always be a solid third string option. At this stage in his career, that’s what he is: a third string point guard. That’s what he’s currently doing in Detroit, backing up Reggie Jackson and Ish Smith.

Even last season with the Cavaliers, Calderon was really solid. He had to start a bunch of games since the Cavs were having health issues at one point, but he gave them great contributions in his 16-minute role. He shot 50.3 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from deep. He’s always been very efficient for a point guard.

Also of note, he’s an international player. The Jazz obviously have had a lot of success with international players. Rudy Gobert, Joe Ingles and Dante Exum attest to that. Calderon is a team player and would fit in well with their offense, but he wouldn’t be a reliable defender whatsoever.
