The Utah Jazz are off to a pretty poor start this season and there are six particular factors that stand out as the most frustrating.
Well, the 2018-19 season hasn’t exactly gotten off to the start that the Utah Jazz or the team’s fans were hoping. After defying the odds last season to surge into the postseason and advance to the second round, many believed the Jazz would pick up where they left off and wend their way to becoming a dominant force in the Western Conference. Instead, they’re in danger of falling below .500 when they visit the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.
Sitting at 4-4, which includes a pair of losses at home to the Memphis Grizzlies, a heart-breaking loss to the Golden State Warriors and a discouraging defeat to the Jimmy Butler-less Minnesota Timberwolves, it’s hard not to be disappointed with how the season has started. Yes, it’s early, and of course no team is going to win them all, but Utah figured to be much more formidable than what they’ve shown up to this point.
Especially considering that losses in October and November could very well ultimately translate into a lower seed or a missed playoff spot entirely come April, it’s far from encouraging to see Utah drop winnable games at this juncture. Considering their 4-4 record, there’s obviously quite a bit that hasn’t gone right this season.
As such, let’s take a look at six of the most frustrating aspects of the Jazz’s slow start.
