Utah Jazz: 40 reasons to get excited for Utah’s 40th season
New Coaching Changes. It was sad to see the Jazz lose a really good assistant coach in Igor Kokoskov. Hopefully he finds success in Phoenix. Utah had a few new additions to its staff with the hiring of Fotis Katsikaris as an assistant coach and Barnett Frank as Director of Performance Science. As a fan it can be hard to know how much of an impact the coaching/training staff has, but I trust that Dennis Lindsey and Coach Snyder know what they’re doing.
National Media Coverage. The Jazz will play on TNT or ESPN 11 times this year. That’s four more than last year. This just goes to show that the Jazz are watchable, they are interesting. Looks like the nation has started to ‘take note’.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Game. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is always a good one for NBA basketball. More and more, players are expressing their voices and opinions about today’s issues. MLK Day offers the players a platform to honor and respect Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, it’s a cool thing to experience. The Jazz will visit Portland on Jan. 21 to take on Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers.
Jazz Signage. Matt Harpring and Craig Bolerjack are always on the lookout for some good Jazz signage. It seems like there are a few good ones every game, I’m excited to see what fans come up with this year.
5 for the Fight. The Jazz have the coolest shoulder patch in the NBA, no question. You can fight me on that if you want, but you will lose. Not only does it look good on the jersey, it is also for an organization that supports cancer research. Just more proof that Utah is a classy organization.
The Jazz will be Good. This might be the best reason to get excited for the season. The Jazz will be good, and if things go well they will be very good. I can’t wait to get this thing started!
