All-Stars with Old Clubs
The last time the Jazz lost a preseason game, Gordon Hayward was still a member of the team. He was one of the most loved people in Utah. Jimmy Butler was still with the Chicago Bulls. Paul George was still in Indiana playing for the Pacers. Kawhi Leonard wasn’t up north playing for the Toronto Raptors, he was still on the San Antonio Spurs. Kyrie Irving and LeBron James were coming off a championship run in Cleveland.
It’s crazy how fast time flies. It seems like yesterday Jazz fans were anxiously watching Game 7 of the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs, when they took on the Los Angeles Clippers in L.A. That was back when the Clippers had Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Well, all three of those guys are now on different teams. Again, time flies.
To further instill the craziness of what’s happened in just two years’ time, I’ll name a few more. DeMarcus Cousins was still on the Sacramento Kings – he got traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2017. He’s now a member of the Golden State Warriors. Lastly, Joel Embiid hadn’t played his first official regular season NBA game when the Jazz lost their last preseason game. Two years later, he’s arguably the most coveted young building block in the league when healthy.
