Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell is at it again. This time, giving free copies of the new NBA 2K19 video game to kids.
Since his arrival in Salt Lake City just over a year ago, Donovan Mitchell has been a superhero in every sense of the word. On the court, he captivated a city with a sublime rookie season, pushed the Utah Jazz past the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs and took home the Dunk Contest trophy.
Off the court, whether it’s showing up at random venues to sign autographs, rocking up at a fan’s Fourth of July barbecue or paying for a fan to have his iPhone repaired, Mitchell makes it a focal point to have a positive impact on everyone he encounters.
For his latest random act of awesomeness, he’s hooking kids up with a copy of the NBA 2K19 video game, which dropped earlier this month. The Jazz star uploaded a video on his Instagram story with a box of games, captioned “all kids send me ya address imma send a few out to y’all.” (Editor’s note/question: Would a 36-year-old qualify?)
In his media day interview, Mitchell shared a personal experience of an encounter with an NBA player growing up. “I asked him to sign an autograph, I turned around and gone.” Clearly, it’s become important to Mitchell to prevent that from happening to one of his own fans.
Mitchell’s giveaway sums up his personality to a T and shows once again how he’s impacting Utah on both a basketball and a community level.
Mitchell, the cover athlete for 2K19’s online version in China, and the Jazz will be in action for the first time in the 2018-19 NBA calendar year on Saturday night as they host the NBL’s Perth Wildcats in their preseason opener.
