Will Grayson Allen get much playing time?

Many people are high on the potential of Grayson Allen and his fit with the Utah Jazz. Last season, the Jazz were middling in the 3-point shooting department and lacked players with the ability to create shots for themselves or others.

Enter Allen.

In his final three season with the Duke Blue Devils, Allen averaged 17.2 points per game, while shooting 38 percent from three. He also added four assists and four rebounds per game. Those are fantastic all-around numbers and speak volumes to the type of player the Jazz are getting.

During summer league, Allen truly set himself apart with his vision and passing. While he struggled to score the ball during the Utah Summer League, he averaged a whopping 7.5 assists in just 25 minutes a game. He upped his scoring to 16.5 points per game in Las Vegas, but still managed to average four assists.

As much as Jazz fans are going to love Allen and his hustle and tenacity, I just don’t know where the minutes are going to come. When we look at the guard and wing rotations, we have Ricky Rubio at point guard with Dante Exum backing him up. Next, there’s Donovan Mitchell at shooting guard with Alec Burks backing him up. Finally, we have Joe Ingles at small forward with Royce O’Neale backing him up.

It’s going to be hard to come by minutes early on. My prediction is that Allen will not get much more than spot minutes early on, but as the season goes along, he will begin to take over minutes from Burks.
