Jazz Basketball is BACK

The first reason is absolutely simple, so let’s just get this out of the way right off the bat. The main reason why you should be excited about the upcoming preseason is that after a long and arduous offseason, the Utah Jazz are back in action! Lowered competition and lessened playing time notwithstanding, getting to see our boys hit the floor anew is a thrill in and of itself.

Will Donovan Mitchell throw down some highlight dunks? Will Joe Ingles burn down the nets from three? Will some of the young guns show in full force just how much they’ve grown this summer? Will Dante Exum avoid injury? OK, I know. Not funny.

But honestly, preseason is exciting because it’s our first true look at the Jazz team in 5-on-5 action and it’s their first chance to showcase just how much they’ve developed during the offseason. Last year, we could clearly see that Exum was much-improved (prior to the injury) and that Mitchell had the chance to be special, even before the heightened competition of the regular season came into effect.

Getting that first glimpse this season and beginning to predict how things are going to unfold will be one of the greatest joys of the upcoming preseason. Thank goodness it all gets underway in a matter of weeks.
