In preparation for the start of the 2018-19 campaign, the Utah Jazz will be holding a ‘Meet the Team’ event on September 28th, one night prior to their preseason debut.

If you’ve been outside lately, you’ve probably noticed something different in the air. No, not the cooling temperatures of Fall as you might suspect. That feeling you’ve detected is that of basketball on the horizon.

OK, so perhaps that’s a bit dramatic. But make no mistake about it, we’re getting awfully close to the start of the 2018-19 NBA season. The Utah Jazz are among the teams that will kick off pre-season action on the hardwood later this very month when they’ll battle the Perth Wildcats out of Australia on September 29th at 7:00 pm.

But die-hard Jazz fans should rejoice because that won’t be the first chance they’ll have to see their beloved team in action. No, instead it was announced on Wednesday that the Utah Jazz will be hosting a free ‘Meet the Team’ event the night prior on September 28th at 6:00 pm.

The event will include a 3-point shooting contest which, according to radio voice of the Jazz David Locke, will feature teams made up of a guard and a big man. It will be exciting to see how the pairs come together and who comes away with the crown.

Normally, I’d have my money on whoever’s paired with Joe Ingles, who’s been Utah’s most reliable dead-eye from deep. But if he’s partnered with someone like Rudy Gobert, who isn’t known for taking threes, the duo could be in for a challenge. That is, unless the Stifle Tower surprises us all by adding a long-range jumper to his repertoire this upcoming season (I’m joking).

I imagine the winning team will likely consist of two middle of the pack 3-point shooters, perhaps something like a Jae Crowder – Dante Exum pairing, for example. Neither have been prolific 3-point shooters in their careers, but both are more than capable and could very well be improved heading into this upcoming season.

Whatever the case may be, it’s certain to be an awesome event and a fun way to get an early glimpse at the Utah Jazz prior to the season’s start.
