Which current/former Utah Jazz players could be All-Stars in 2018-19?
Paul Millsap
Speaking of All-Star caliber players being restricted by injuries last season, that certainly applies to former Jazz fan favorite Paul Millsap. Millsap made somewhat of an interesting move joining the Denver Nuggets, and unfortunately for him, it wasn’t the best season he’s had by any stretch of the imagination.
A wrist injury kept Millsap out for all but 38 games this past season, and he put up just 14.6 points per game in those contests, his lowest output since his final year in a Jazz uniform in 2012-13. However, there’s no denying that Millsap is still an All-Star-caliber talent. During his time with the Atlanta Hawks, he was selected to the All-Star Game four times and his last season with the Hawks saw him put up an impressive 18.1 points per game.
If he can find a way to be that effective again while leading his Nuggets team into the middle of the Western Conference playoff pack, he could very well find himself among the West’s All-Stars.
That’s a real possibility, but honestly, I’m not betting on it. Between Millsap being 33 years old, having a much different role with the Nuggets than he had with the Hawks and the fact that the West is just so star-studded, I’d be shocked to see him make the All-Star Game unless there’s an unprecedented number of injuries. Low though his chances may be, Millsap still has better odds than most current and former Jazzmen.
