Utah Jazz: Donovan Mitchell attends Dwyane Wade training camp
Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell recently attended a camp hosted by Dwyane Wade from which an awesome image appeared of mentor speaking to pupil.
As the NBA offseason rolls on, Utah Jazz fans have been tantalized by the thoughts of all the hard work that their dedicated squad is putting in this summer. The likes of Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Dante Exum and the rest of the Jazz are no doubt aiming to improve this offseason, so they can therefore elevate their team to new heights in 2018-19.
We’ve seen each of them in action to some extent via various social media outlets throughout the summer. But most recently, Mitchell was spotted at a training camp put on by NBA legend Dwyane Wade in San Clemente, California. Also in attendance were fellow NBA players Jahlil Okafor, CJ McCollum, Justise Winslow and Jimmy Butler.
It’s cool to see Mitchell once again involved with some big-time names within the NBA, and as he continues to practice against and gain experience from the best in the league, he’s certain to only up his game to another level.
From the camp, an unforgettable image emerged of Donovan Mitchell clearly soaking in wisdom from the wise and battle-hardened Dwyane Wade. Many have drawn comparisons between Mitchell’s game and that of Wade’s so seeing them interact in such a manner is a pretty cool sight–
Having his game compared to NBA Champion, multiple-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade is quite a compliment for Donovan Mitchell. The two of them both have uncanny athleticism, incredible shot-creating abilities and an all-around knack for the game. If Mitchell is able to live up to the brilliant example that Wade has left for him, he’s bound to be one of the greatest players in the game.
And it should be noted that Wade took a massive leap from his rookie year to his sophomore season, jumping from 16.2 points per game to 24.1, and elevating several other marks such as rebounds, assists, steals and shooting percentage. Mitchell and Wade are obviously different players in different situations, but hopefully that second-year leap will be yet another aspect in which Mitchell’s game mirrors that of Wade.
Given that Mitchell’s rookie season saw him put up 20.5 points per contest, a leap equivalent to Wade’s would put him in a nearly mind-blowing category of production. As hard as it is to believe that we can see Donovan get that much better, since the day he entered the league, he’s done nothing but out-perform expectations.
Who are we to question his ability to continue to do so in year two as a pro?
