Georges Niang stopped by and showed some love for Utah State University in between Utah Jazz youth clinics across Utah, Wyoming and Idaho.

Recently signed Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang has been busy this summer. After working his tail off and having an impressive Summer League, he found himself being signed to an official contract with the Utah Jazz. That’s a huge accomplishment that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Regardless of the amount of playing time he gets next season, making the 15-man roster is a big deal, and could very well be the next step in Niang turning into a legitimate diamond in the rough for the Jazz. Utah’s development staff and front office have done a great job of producing such players before, and it absolutely should be believed that they can do so again.

But Niang hasn’t just been busy fine-tuning his game and earning NBA contracts, he’s also spent a fair amount of time on the road as a Jazz ambassador. On Saturday, he wrapped up a tour that saw him attend 15 Jazz youth clinics across Idaho, Wyoming and Utah.

After stopping by to visit kids in Kemmerer, Wyoming and Soda Springs, Idaho on Friday, Niang made his way to Logan, Utah in preparation for one of his final clinics that would be held on Saturday. Before doing so, though, he was able to get a workout in at the Utah State University practice facility the night before, where he gave a nice Aggie shout-out.

As a Utah State alum myself, I absolutely love seeing this. While Jazz players quite frequently visit University of Utah and BYU, Utah State is only a brief jaunt up the road and it would be awesome to see them receive more love from the local pro team, especially considering all the rabid Jazz fans that call Logan home.

Perhaps Niang will become the Utah Jazz’s resident Aggie fan, and spread that love throughout the team.

Whether or not that ends up being the case, it’s awesome to see Niang out and about helping kids have a great experience at various youth clinics. I’m certain it’s something that the clinic attendees will never forget. It’s also sweet to see the Jazz outreach across the neighboring states of Idaho and Wyoming.

There are a lot of die-hard sports fans in those areas that don’t have the blessing of a professional sports team in their immediate vicinity, so bringing them into the Jazz fold is an invaluable gesture.

With the youth clinics concluded, I’m anxious to see Georges Niang and the rest of his teammates hit the court once the regular season gets underway in October. And maybe we’ll see more of Niang and Co. in Logan, Utah for upcoming Aggie games, helping to bring the state and surrounding regions together all the more.
