Deron Williams

Say what you will about Deron Williams‘ run with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the fact remains that he was arguably the best point guard in the game for a time. Yes, even better than CP3. He’s also just 34 years old and not that far removed from playing meaningful minutes for the Dallas Mavericks.

He’s also a guy that deserves a better swan song, as well as a better end to his Jazz story. Injuries really knocked him down a few tiers in the league’s hierarchy as his career went on. And his blow-up with Jerry Sloan and subsequent move out of Utah are also black marks on what was otherwise an incredible career.

Unfortunately, another go-round in the Association may not be in the cards at this point. If that’s the case, what better way to erase some of the bad juju than to repping the Jazz on a BIG3 title-winning team?

Williams’ killer crossover, his pick-and-roll play, shooting and size would play well in the halfcourt setting. Really, it’s the ideal environment for us to see shades of the old D-Will, and this squad would give him a host of strong complementary pieces.
