Utah Jazz: One goal for every Jazzman in 2018-19
Dante Exum – Win Most Improved Player Award
I know that I just got done talking about how Gobert’s goal shouldn’t be placed in the hands of voters, but I’m changing my tune in the case of Dante Exum. Because of the struggles Dante has faced in his career injury-wise, he hasn’t been able to show just what he’s made of. However, assuming he can stay healthy this upcoming year, he has a chance to truly be something special.
If he can finally live up to the hype while improving his confidence on offense by adding a reliable shot and finishing ability, he could be a prime candidate for the Most Improved Player Award. This award is typically given to someone who has under-performed in their career then comes out of nowhere to become a serviceable player or star, taking the NBA world by storm.
Many Jazz fans still believe in Exum, but it’s safe to say that the average NBA fan does not. If he is able to put up any semblance of a strong season, he figures to be in the running. And Exum is more than capable of doing just that. In fact, the Jazz NEED him to do just that, especially considering the hefty contract that he was just extended.
This may seem like a hard goal to obtain, but if Exum simply stays healthy, gets the minutes he deserves and likely would have had last year, then thrives in them, it will absolutely be a realistic and attainable objective for him.
