Joe Ingles – Increase his 3-point attempts per game

Joe Ingles is so steady and fills his role so well that, once again, it’s hard to be overly critical of him. He’s established himself as a 3-and-D player and he proved himself worthy of such a title once again as he burned down the nets by converting on 44 percent of his 3-point attempts, one of the best marks in the league.

He did so despite raising his attempts from behind the arc from 3.4 per game to 5.7 per game. Maintaining that kind of efficiency while upping the volume that much is an absolutely impressive feat.

However, because Joe’s accuracy is so on point, one of his primary goals should be to raise that volume even further. Crazy though it may sound, there would be nothing wrong with Joe elevating that figure to an average of seven attempts per game.

One of Ingles’ weaknesses from this past season was both a blessing and a curse. At times, he would become too unselfish and pass up good looks in order to get his teammates involved. In most circumstances, this is a great trait and is undoubtedly one of many reasons why Ingles is so beloved by his teammates. However, considering that he’s one of the most deadly sharpshooters in the league, he needs to be unafraid to pull the trigger.

Ingles ought to have the greenest of green lights and should take advantage of that fact as often as he can. Teamwork and unselfishness are great characteristics that thrive within Ingles’ game and on this team as a whole. However, when you’ve shot 44 percent or better from three for two consecutive years, you have the right to let it fly at almost any time.

There’s no reason for Ingles to get gun shy and hopefully he’ll show as much next season by upping his 3-point attempts. He already broke the record for most made threes by a Jazzman last season, but his goal should be to surpass that mark once again.
