Ekpe Udoh – Show improvements offensively

There’s no debating that Ekpe Udoh is an NBA-caliber defender. The self-proclaimed “best defender in the world” provides Utah with yet another daunting big to protect the rim in the absence of both Gobert and Favors. However, whenever he hits the court, the offense seemingly takes a hit.

Ekpe’s lack of versatility on offense as well as his occasional struggles to convert in the paint made him somewhat of a liability on that end of the floor. If he is to see more minutes and greater opportunities, he’ll need to make some strides as an offensive weapon while maintaining his staunch defensive prowess.

Udoh doesn’t figure to be a key component of Utah’s rotation. But in the event that Favors or Gobert gets hurt, something which unfortunately is a real possibility based on years past, the Jazz will need Udoh to be prepared if his number is called. If and when that happens, having more to hang his hat on offensively would be extremely helpful in order for the Jazz to weather whatever injury storms may come their way.
